Useful links:
All of these links are just examples for information and services
"out there" on the web. There are many, many more, but the
ones listed here I tested or used myself.
PSP:
https://www.paypal.com
PayPal
is a good Payment Service Provider to start with. It is getting rather
big and popular, especially since the company was bought by Ebay.
I started with PayPal and am still using it for most of my shops.Plus-Points:-
Easy to start- Cheap (not very high fees to receive money from your
customers)- Can grow with your businessMinus-Points:- Getting rather
big and no room for individual deals- The seller protection program
is a farce. If you deal a lot with valuable goods (electronics, jewelry
.),
then PayPal is not for you
Registering a
domain:
http://www.directnic.com
This is just one
out of a million places to register your domain, but it happens to
be the one that I use the most. Reasonable prices and I never had
a problem with them. You can also get web space with or without banners
there at a good price. This is a pretty good place to start your shop.
Once you grow bigger and you have more visitors, you can move to a
"real" hosting company.
Professional Web
hosting:
http://pair.com
Web hosting company for "phase 2" of your web page. I used
these guys since my day one and have never been let down.Excellent
service, almost no down time and a flexible pricing/hosting.
Online auction
page and sanity-check:
http://www.ebay.com
The classic when it comes to auction houses online. A good place to
check, if the goods you offer are really as "hot" as you
think they are.
Web Counters:
http://www.nedstatbasic.net
http://extremetracking.com
Again: There are a million other services that offer tracking and
counters. Both of the above are free. Nedstat is better when it comes
to displaying the hits you get and you can put more than one counter
in one account. Extremetracking gives you a better Referrer-Tracking
option (i.e. where did the surfers come from?), but you mostly get
numbers, not a lot of charts.
Search engine
stuff:
http://dmoz.org
This is the "Open Directory Project". A lot of search engines
(including Google) get input from this directory. DO take your time
when you submit your page. Find the exact right category. DMOZ only
asks for a few keywords and short descriptions of your page. Take
an hour to think about it and make it a good one. It is worth the
investment.
Business / Web
Site Logos
http://www.gotlogos.com
One of the many sites offering logos out there on the web. The only
difference between this one and other pages: I dealt with this one
before and I was content with the result.25$ well invested.
News for your
page
http://news.google.com
If you are looking for news that is relevant to your page, a good
place to find articles to link to.
Adwords: Quality
Ads
https://adwords.google.com
A good place to start for quality Ads: Not the cheapest, but targeted.
