Tip: Domain
Contact Records
When registering a domain name, you will be asked for contact information.
This is important, because you will be contacted once your domain
name is about to expire, or if there is any other trouble with the
registration.
However: These domain name records are public. Everybody can see them,
and even though it is illegal to use these records for anything but
contacting you for matters that directly concern your domain, you
better get used to the idea, that you will be receiving much more
spam on the email address that you submit.
I use one particular email address for all of my registered domains.
I do not use this address for anything else, and it is only mentioned
in my domain name records. Slowly but surely over the years the spam
I receive on this address kept increasing, and after a few years the
volume is up to about 40+ messages per day.
A few times a year I even receive snail mail spam to the PostBox address
I use for the registrations. So just be aware: what ever you submit
is harvested by spammers
